Rosie Perez

 Rosie Perez was born Rosa Maria Perez June 6, 1964. She is an American actress. Her breakout moment came with Tina's role in Do the Right Thing (1989), then followed by White Men Can't Hop (1992). Perez's performance in Fearless (1993) has earned her an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. It Could Happen to You (1994), The Road to El Dorado ((2000), Pineapple Express (2008) and Birds of Prey (2010) are her most prominent roles in films.





 Perez earned three Primetime Emmy Award nominations for In Living Color (1990-1994) as well as an Emmy nomination for her role in The Flight Attendant (2020-present). Perez has appeared in Broadway stage plays such as The Ritz and Frankie, Johnny in the Clair de Lune and Fish in the Dark. She was also a co-host on The View, an ABC talk show The View during the series the 18th season.





 Early life



 Perez was born on the 6th of September, 1964, in the Bushwick neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York City in the family of Lydia Perez and Ismael Serrano, a merchant marine seaman. [3][4][5] Perez's mother Lydia Fontanez y Reyes was born in Humacao (Puerto Rico) on the 13th of October 1939. Her father came born in Aguadilla in Puerto Rico. Arturo Perez, her mother's husband, was twenty years older than her. Her mother was already a mother of five before she gave birth to Rosie after an affair with Serrano. Perez was born in the now-closed Greenpoint Hospital, Greenpoint neighborhood of Brooklyn.





 Perez is among ten children who were born by her mother. Rosie as well as her siblings grew up in Bushwick in the period when their mother was held in jail. Her mother was in jail when she gave birth to her eldest child. After being raised by her aunt, she was put in foster care and group homes. They and their siblings were frequently split. She was transferred to the group foster home and resided in foster care within New York and Peekskill until age eight. The state of New York considered her an ward by the State of New York from age 12 to age 12. Her mother and aunt frequently visited her, and her father unsuccessfully attempted to get custody at one time.
